Hudson Valley (+vicinity) Selected Gallery Guide: January 2025

Bill Arning Exhibitions: Brian Wood, Volute, oil on wood, 14 x 12 inches

Contributed by Karlyn Benson / After the busy holiday season some galleries are taking a winter break, but many others will be open this weekend. There is still time to see small works exhibitions at LABspace and Pamela Salisbury, as well as Ash Eliza Williams’ wonderful solo show at Headstone. I’m looking forward to new group shows opening this month including JANUS at Susan Eley Fine Art, Fauna, Flora and Fur at Geary, and Darkness at Bill Arning Exhibitions. It’s an exciting time for photography in the region, with the January 18 re-opening of (CPW) The Center for Photography at Woodstock at their new location in Kingston. The 6,000 square foot space includes four galleries featuring work by Mary Ellen Mark, Colleen Kenyon and Kathleen Kenyon, Keisha Scarville, and For All an open call to local artists. The newly renovated building also includes CPW’s Digital Media Lab, a library, and other public facilities. The Woodstock Artists Association & Museum is highlighting photography with Lasting Impressions: Photography from the Permanent Collection and WAAM Media Annual: Photographic Currents, also opening January 18. Thanks for reading and for your support of Two Coats of Paint. Happy New Year!
